When the going gets tough….
…..do you give up?
Whether its weight loss, fitness, better health, more confidence, more energy that you want…..
If you aren’t prepared to see it through to the end
You aren’t going to get what you want
Quitting is the EASIER path for sure….
I know I used to!
If it felt TOO HARD, I’d quit and tell myself that I didn’t want to succeed that bad in the first place
Except that I did (I wouldn’t have started trying to achieve in the first place it if I didn’t want it)
I was lying to myself to hide the reality
I didn’t want to work hard for the things that I wanted
I wanted it all to fall into my lap
It took me a while to realise that I was living in cuckoo land
If I wanted something, it was damn well my responsibility to make it happen
What I was lacking before was 2 very important things
1. A clear, detailed, achievable plan
2. Something to draw upon when the going got tough
As a quitter, I would never follow anything through (unless by chance all the ducks lined up for me)
When I became a planner, I also became an ACHIEVER
I was suddenly able to make my own dreams come true
Instead of waiting for a miracle to happen! (but we’ll talk more about this another day)
The thing that keeps me going now….(because in reality, life is never going to be a smooth, nor easy ride)
The thing that keeps me going is my mantra
I have a mantra of 4 names that I chant when I need to get through something hard
So when I am on a run, with every step that I WANT TO QUIT, I chant my 4 names over and over again
When I am swimming and my arms are burning, I chant each name with the strokes I take
When I am cycling and my legs want to give in, I chant the names with each pedal push
When I am finding something hard, and I know that quitting would NOT serve my longer term goals
I draw strength from those 4 names
The names are of people whom I admire and I use that to find the inner strength that I need to do what I want to do!
So my question to you is…
Where do you draw your inner strength from?
