Weight loss myth #3

This is a myth that REALLY REALLY needs to die

It has been popularised by celebrity trainers and celebrities of the 90s

And the myth and the worry is still lingering around like a bad smell!

Myth #3 is….

WEIGHT TRAINING WILL MAKE WOMEN BULKY – FALSE

Ok let’s break this one down!

To gain ‘bulk’ you need a combination of very heavy weight lifting and the right nutrition plan.

To begin with most women do not eat enough protein, so would struggle to gain muscle mass anyway even if they were lifting weights

Furthermore, women do not have the same hormones as men

Men have higher levels of testosterone which helps to build muscle bulk

This is all that you need to know right now

If you want to learn more about this, I suggest that you do your own research

But I don’t want to go beyond the scope of what this email is about

Essentially what I need you to know

Is that you should not be scared of lifting weights

Adding a little muscle mass, by the way, is also called toning

So that toning thing that you’re always talking about

Yes, that is MUSCLE BUILDING!

So be not afraid!

Lift weights safely, and consistently

And you will begin to see that ‘toned’ physique that you have been desiring!

The other benefits to building some muscle…

(again, this is not masses of muscle bulk, I am referring to that nicely toned shape that we find aesthetically pleasing, the bikini body perhaps?)

…include….

Reduced risk of injury

  1. Improved joint health
  2. Improved bone health
  3. Improved metabolic rate

(yes you burn more calories if you have more muscle, this means that you can EAT MORE – cool huh!)

So that’s that

Don’t fear the weights

Always consult a coach to make sure that you are lifting safely and correctly!
