I have been listening to a great audio book in the car on my way to work
(Incidentally, this is a great habit to pick up if you want to increase your knowledge but find you have limited time to do it at home – your commute is your private time where you can do what you want…..sing, boogie OR learn some stuff!)
The audio book that I have on the go at the moment is called The Righteous Mind by Jonathan Haidt.
It’s a book about psychology and sociology dealing with the intuitions that we have, and the conclusions that we come to about ourselves and other people, that lead us to make certain choices in our lifestyles!
It’s been very clear to me in recent years that PERSONAL TRAINING should be much more than just encouraging my clientele to exercise and to eat well
I’ve been pursuing books on mindfulness, mindset and well-being for a long time to see what I can learn about the brain, the connection between the brain and the body, and ultimately the role that our brain (and mindset) plays in our decision making process
Over time it became obvious to me that the mindset was driving our daily choices
And our results (and success or failure) in health and weight loss are quite clearly determined by the choices that we make day to day
Those choices add up to the reality that you are living right now!
I hope that you are happy, prospering and feeling healthy and have a sense of self respect and self love that carries you through each day and makes your healthy choices feel somewhat clear and relatively easy
HOWEVER…..I know that for most people in our society, this is just not the case
- We are riddled with self doubt, and often self hatred
- We are driven by our emotions, ANGER, FRUSTRATION and MODERATE IRRITATION
- We are REACTIVE instead of PROACTIVE….
And this all leads to a melee with our choices going around in circles day after day, week after week and year after year
I’ve seen this pattern for the last 7 years working in the health and fitness industry
HECK…..I’ve lived this pattern myself for years before I figured it out and began to make simple changes in my lifestyle to support my mental well-being and my MINDSET!
My interest is in working out how far back these intuitions, and brain games that we play on ourselves, go
How far back can we trace our habits and judgements and thought processes???
I want to know where you are on this right now?
Are you at the happy and confident end of the scale?
Or are you feeling stuck, frustration and angry at yourself for never being able to get it right?
Your first port of call, IF you absolutely want things to change is to start understanding the link between your
MINDSET and your CHOICES and your ACTIONS leading you to your RESULTS and REALITY
Without a sense of this connection….it will feel like you are trying to drag yourself through mud as you make changes
IF you embrace the idea of the LONG GAME where the changes that you make might not feel LIFE CHANGING in that moment, BUT……your CONSISTENCY in taking care of yourself EVERY SINGLE DAY…..can lead you down a path where the results start to roll in (#winning)
Your second port of call is to come and talk to me about it
Visit this link to book in a call and get on the phone with me to talk about your health, well-being and weight loss
All the best :-)
If you are into audio books, or want to get into them, I have a whole bunch of recommendations that you might
like to get you started on your learning journey!
Just email me back and let me know that you’re interested!
