I attempted to hit the gym this week and I can usually rely on my newborn to be asleep during the day (and awake plenty in the middle of the night of course )
But the best laid plans …
Sky woke up as we arrived at the gym, and was absolutely not content to be anywhere but in my arms
So we improvised …
We still had a workout, we adapted and managed to move for an hour with some modifications
The best thing I’ve developed since becoming a mama is the ability to shift gears and just make it work, whatever the situation and however different it has to look from the original plan
I was guilty of being pretty rigid before I had kiddos and it’s been a steep learning curve … BUT it has made my life easier and more satisfying to learn to become more flexible
- Did I get the workout that I wanted … NO
- Did I get a workout … YES
- Did I meet the needs of my little baba … YES
So if you’re a mama in a similar situation with limited time and limited opportunity to get a workout in for yourself, just know that going to the gym is not essential for supporting your health, fitness and strength
Dance around the kitchen
Walk around the block or around the garden
Do some squats at home holding your baby
Climb the stairs a few times to get out of breath
Stick a workout on from YouTube and just do your bestEquipment is not required, but use it if you have it
If you have any questions drop an email over to nicola@rossellfitness.co.uk and we can chat about how to make it work whilst juggling your toddlers, newborns and everything that goes along with it
You can do this, mama
