MYTH #8 SKIPPING MEALS HELPS YOU TO LOSE WEIGHT

This is another grey area because there is a lot of research into fasting and intermittent fasting that shows really great benefits for body composition and health

BUT…..

And this is a BIG BUT….

Just because science says something should work…

Does not mean it will work for EVERYONE

I love science

Before I was a personal trainer

I was as scientist

My degree was Chemistry and Sports Science…

I have faith in science and I believe we need it to be able to understand the world

However, sometimes the science doesn’t add up for everyone

And fasting, in my opinion, is one of those areas

Have you ever tried skipping meals?

How did you feel?

In my experience I get headaches, I feel really cranky, I get a tummy ache and my energy takes a dive

I can only come at you with my experience and what I have seen with my clients

But in the ladies that I have worked with

Fasting (or skipping meals) has not been effective

And often leads to over compensation later on (over eating or binge eating)

A feeling of deprivation

And is often too strict for a busy, stressed out mum to fit into an already hectic and challenging lifestyle

In my opinion, what you need in this situation….

Less rules

More flexibility

And the opportunity and freedom to eat something IF your body is telling you that you are hungry!

Never judge yourself if the diet regime did not work

I hear so many ladies blaming themselves for the failure of the diet

I propose it is the other way around

The diet failed you

If it cannot fit into your life easily

If it is complicated and convoluted

If you have a strict protocol that confuses you and restricts you from social gatherings

And leaves you feeling frustrated, lonely and guilty (when you can’t stick to it)

It is not the approach for you

You can find another way

All of my ladies do it another way
