So I’m finding it hard to shake of the feeling of elation since watching ‘The Greatest Showman‘ last week
It wasn’t difficult to find another powerful message to draw from the movie which applies so easily and frequently to our lives…
First of all though I’d like to ask you a question:
Could you be happier?
In the current situation that you are in, do you want more?
More stuff, more money, more gadgets, more data, more status, more possessions, more recognition?
At what point are you going to stop, take stock and appreciate what you have?
The excitement that we feel for stuff that we have, fades over time
The heady feeling that we get from praise, status and recognition, also fades over time
Our new gadgets become old
Our lives seem to keep whizzing by and get more and more complicated as we strive for MORE MORE MORE
So at risk of being repetitive I am going to throw another set of lyrics at you
This song is called ‘Never Enough’ and it’s pretty powerful (see video at bottom of email)
I’m trying to hold my breath
Let it stay this way
Can’t let this moment end
You set off a dream in me
Getting louder now
Can you hear it echoing?
Take my hand
Will you share this with me?
‘Cause darling without you
All the shine of a thousand spotlights
All the stars we steal from the night sky
Will never be enough
Never be enough
Towers of gold are still too little
These hands could hold the world but it’ll
Never be enough
Never be enough’
The song represents a few themes in the movie but the message that I took from it was that if we FAIL to see and appreciate what we already have (our health, our family, our friends, our life) it can all FADE AWAY too!
The life that you lead right now may have some complexities, some challenges and some struggles
But can you step back from those things for a minute and see the good stuff too?
If we made a habit out of tracking the good things that we do (instead of the things that we couldn’t do)
If we got good at recognising our hard work (instead of beating ourselves up)
If we made it a sacred habit to appreciate our lives, our health and the people in it (instead of taking it for granted)
We might find that what we have IS ENOUGH!
We work on this a lot with our members
We work on balance across the 5 areas of lifestyle (fitness, fun, family, focus and finances)
We work on building confidence and skills so that you can take control of the important stuff (like your health and well-being)
We work on appreciation so that we don’t get lost in the mish mash of other peoples expectations
We work on all of this because to get the best lifestyle results (and the best weight loss results), we need to be in the right head-space to make consistently good choices
If we are always chasing the next gadget, or the next pay rise or that corner office….
We lose sight of what we have, and we lose sight of what might really be the most important!
If I haven’t said it already, the movie really is worth a watch
I look forward to speaking with you about your lifestyle
